Joseph Abolafia

Joseph (owner) is proud to announce his membership in the prestigious Intercoiffure America/Canada, and to serve as its current Membership Committee Co-Chair. A Seattle native and Queen Anne resident, Joseph started his career 30 years ago at Yuki and Wendy’s Salon in Madison Park. It was there he mastered the skills that later became the trademark for Salon Joseph. He opened his first salon several years later with business associate Rory McGowan (Coupe Rokei), until his departure to open Salon Joseph in 1985. Joseph traveled to Europe to attend institutes in Paris and London, as well as spending time in independent European salons. He has attended hair shows in New York, London, and Paris, and is a graduate of the Tony and Guy Advanced Academy in New York and Los Angeles. Providing advanced education and training for his staff has been Joseph’s passion for his entire career. Joseph’s gifts for creative design and fashionable yet easy-to-manage styles have earned him many rave reviews, and a very loyal client base for nearly 30 years, including local news anchors, and as the producer of photo sessions with local models. Joseph is as excited about hair now as when he first started, and he's thrilled to recommend the perfect stylist to fit your needs.

A graduate of Gene Juarez Academy, Jennifer has completed advanced training programs in hair design, and completed her apprenticeship at the Robert Leonard Salon in downtown Seattle. She crafts beautiful cuts through the French method of cutting, and has been perfecting her balayage and coloring skills since coming to Joseph in 2012. Jennifer's inspirations arise from urban living, and she brings a fashion-forward mindset into her work. At home in the world, Jen's steady presence and sense of humor makes working with her a breeze.

Emily has been a hair designer for over 25 years, and is proud to have operated her independent salon, and to have mastered the fine art of balayage and color melting. Her earlier career involved high fashion runway shows, serving as lead stylist and educator at Emerson salon, barbering at the downtown Washington Athletic Club, and rounding out her design skills using the Vidal Sassoon method of haircutting. Being a part of the community and giving back has always been at the heart of her career.

Michelle Clifton

Michelle's lifelong passion for hair designing was launched on the East Coast, where she grew up. Her love of change drew her to the West Coast to experience exciting and new design opportunities, including salons in Beverly Hills, and freelancing and photoshoots with LA talent until falling in love with the Pacific Northwest. Working in Seattle at some of the best salons in the city, Michelle has joined the team at Salon Joseph. Michelle regularly attends advanced training and hair shows, and is certified with one of the leading hair extension companies, Hairdreams, allowing her to offer integrated volumizing systems to help each client achieve the beautiful hair they desire.  "I am inspired by all the creative people I’ve been blessed with in my life, and each person that sits in my chair affords me the opportunity to create something beautiful with detail and integrity."

Monica Potter

Monica began her hairdressing career in 2000 when she lived in Los Angeles, and then she joined Salon Joseph from 2006-2017, and re-joined the salon in 2021. She has worked as an editorial hairdresser for commercials, catalogs, photo shoots, and fashion shows. In 2014, she became a Toni & Guy (TiGi) Ambassador and Color Educator, teaching TiGi classes around the country, and in 2019 she opened her own studio.
